Leroi Moore RIP
First thing I see on the news as I awoke this morning is that sax player, Leroi Moore, from the Dave Matthews Band has passed away. I began loving the band in 1994 when I first heard, "What Would You Say," when MTV and VH1 still played videos. I got into the guitar riff and the combination of fiddle, wind instruments, the guitar playing and the drums all hooked me right away. I had seen my first Dave show in 1997 at The Gund Arena (now, the Q) in Cleveland. Then 11 shows later, I retired from seeing Dave Matthews Band in 2006 after the release of "Stand Up" because it was not the best album. At the time of that album, the only song I had ever skipped over was "Proudest Monkey." On the newer album, I think I only listen to 5 songs. The rest, I skip. Goes to show you that you shouldn't have 50 Cent's producer taking on Dave. On top of the album not being up to my liking, my brother got peed on by some drunk underaged kid at the last show. Security at Blossom Music Center shouls patrol the lawn better. Did I also mention that lawn seats for Dave is $45? Too much for a married, father of two to be spending. The fans of DMB today don't have a clue to what it was like when they had UTTAD and Crash to listen to. Crash is their best album in my mind. Now, do not get me wrong, I still like DMB. I don't retire from listening to them, just going to the live shows. I did say that once a new studio album comes out that I would go to hear them live. "Corn Bread" and "Eh Hee" need to be on the new studio album. Great songs on the "Live from Radio City." With the passing, will they replace Leroi? Will it be the same? Who knows. For this passing, all I have playing in my head are two songs from "Busted Stuff' which is "Grace is Gone" and "Bartender" What a great combination of two songs that describe to me this news.
This isn't wrestling related, but I needed to talk to someone about it.
You'll be missed Leroi, I toast your talents and what you have given to the world of music.
Parker.
Olympic dressage reaches boiling point
I sometimes think that dressage creates as much, or more, excitement out of the arena as in it.

Hot point: were some cheated out of medals in the dressage?
Some of the competitions here have invoked old clichés such as it being “like watching paint dry” – which touched a chord with me as my wife Madeleine is doing precisely that while I am away – while in the background the pot has been close to boiling point.
On the final day, while Anky van Grunsven was celebrating her third consecutive individual gold medal, a record which she said she does not intend to try to extend in London “because of the pressure”, heated questions were being asked.
Those questions were not about her test, her future or indeed about her at all, but whether bronze medal winner Heike Kemmer had been one second late going into the arena for the second round of the individual, the Special. If she was, it was claimed, then fourth-placed American Steffen Peters had been cheated out of a medal, for the penalties she would have incurred would have reversed their placings.
But Mariette Withages, the technical delegate, was more than a match for this. She explained that she and the ground jury had, after hearing complaints, examined the television footage which proved that Kemmer and her horse Bonaparte had been one second early, not late, in to the arena.
After the chairman of the judges, Germany’s Gotthilf Riexinger had been grilled by an American journalist, who made the mistake of admitting she did “not know much about dressage”, concerning a perceived discrepancy in his marking Peters, Chris Hodson, vice-president of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), issued a statement. About another statement yet to come.
He said that he did so in the FEI’s new spirit of openness, so that those who did not know about a certain meeting should be told about it. The meeting, which had taken place at the ungodly hour of 1.30am, involved just about all the officials, but representatives arrived from only four countries, Germany, Holland, Denmark and the United States – who filled the top four places in the team championship.
That would not do, so another meeting was called at a rather more respectable 10am with representatives of all the teams. That was all the statement, and Mr Hodson, told us. Not what the night-time gathering had been about – though I understand it was to do with marking. But then, isn’t everything in dressage.
Still, there was something to enliven even the least-informed among the spectators when Isabell Werth did her tests on Satchmo, in both Special and Freestyle: when it came to the piaffe, he did not like it. And showed his dislike in spectacular, feet-in-the-air style, costing his rider any chance of winning, though she still came second thanks to an otherwise lovely test.
Isabell, a qualified lawyer as well as a brilliant rider, with four Olympic and six World Championship gold medals to her credit, accepted it with good grace: “Just because he makes mistakes, my emotion for him will not change. My challenge is to give him back his confidence, and work for London.” That’s the true spirit of dressage.
Why Cm Punk Why
Omg.I cant beleive that CM Punk is still the world champion i mean he beat J.B.L. at summerslam and clearly should have lost to Batista at the great american bash in july.Well i guess that shows people what the politics are like in the wwe i mean they give someone the world title just because that superstar has a good fanbase.Well if all goes well then CM Punk will lose the world title at unforgiven in the Championship Scramble. and M.V.P. to win smackdown championship scamble
Cozy rehab for Amy W.
What a disgusting joke: Amy Winehouse found a rehab nearby her husband's prison location and such a deal at GBP 550 per week: does that include her special diet needs and fresh linen sheets during her conjugal visits to hubby?
This is just one more bad example of the whole approach to rehab and attiude toward what is a pretense at trying to get sober/straight. Amy's father, "Magnificent Mitch" is pleased and quoted as saying: "If she can get clean and still see Blake it can only be good." I am sure he will claim as misquote as soon as he realizes exactly how stupid and totally uncaring about his daughter the comment is.
Amy is probably in serious trouble: she could easily end up dead. Running her through some detox and then giving her Zen meditation and hot Yoga does absolutely nothing toward helping her survive. The rehab "industry" is heavily populated by scam artists just waiting to take anyone's money but particularly celebrity cash because it almost always leaks out that Amy or some celebrity has gone to a particular rehab and the crowds follow, receiving the same useless treatment that Amy did.
That raises another question about what is going on here: the cost. A "real" rehab lasts at least 28 days and very often three to six months. The month programs cost GBP 15,000 and up. For GBP 550 per week Amy gets outpatient and two hours per evening five days per week. Amy will not succeed with this: no way.
The only way to help her steer toward asking for help and actually accepting it is to stop buying her music and doing anything that puts money into the Winehouse bank accounts. Speak with your wallets that she is a disaster and an example of horrendous behaviors and she must seek serious long-term substantive help not just fashion and incense close to hubby and his cellmate and "new friend" Bubba the Babe.

Dumb Smarks***Spoiler Warning***
I've come to realise there's a diference between knowing how something happens and knowing why something happens. That ladies & gentleman's the what it comes down to when you look at the emergence of the I.W.C (Internet Wrestling Community).
Alot of guys who work the wrestling have complained that the internet has ruined wrestling.Their argument was that stuff like spoilers had well, uh, spoiled wrestling and that all the "mystery" has been taken out. It is partly true that the internet has taken alot out of the WWE experince especially.Spoilers or no spoilers, TNA's will always cop a 0.9 rating,so i'll leave it out of my argument for now.
But let's look at a show like SD! There have been times when spoilers (made by WWE.com for that matter) have actually helped to up the rating.Take for example in June 2005 when Batista was drafted to SD! and what about the May 2007 edition when Edge cashed in Money-In-The-Bank on Taker. However this tends to be exception rather than the rule.I actually don't think spoilers adversely affect ratings. If the show is good, people will still watch it.Spoilers on hurt TV ratings when we read that Mike Knox vs. Snisky was the mainevent of the show. Then people feel like they can skip the show. Its kinda how bad movie reviews make people avoid a movie no matter how much the studio hyped it.
The biggest gripe I have with spoilers will never have a better case study than last years botched Jericho return. The way that info leaked on the internet tainted Chris on two fronts.First,it took away from the actual November 19 return because it stopped being "Let's see who is going to Save us?",and ended up being, "Okay, what time during RAW will Y2J walk out".Some people will dispute and say that it was "obvious" that it was Chris, but bear in mind for quite some time people actually thought it was HBK returning. It could also could easily have been a Christian Cage ir Sting making the jump from B-grade show'sVille to the big leagues or a returning star like RVD. Secondly,it put way to much pressure on Chris to actually "Save Us" i.e miraculosly up RAW's rating from 3.1 to a 5.1 overnight.IWC marks say that his return boomed, when in actual fact it couldn't have been better. What screwed it up was the skewed perception's people had because of internet rumors. My first encounter with how spoilers can ruin a show for a real fan was the infamous post-Wrestlemania episode of RAW in 2003.To hear fans chanting "Goldberg,Goldberg" long before he was scheduled to come out freakin' ruined what was meant to be a classic RAW moment.
What amazes me though is how pissed IWC marks get when the WWE outsmarts them.Cena's Royal Rumble return got a jaded reaction from the IWC.Granted John has his "issues" when it come to the fans, but that was simply used as an excuse by IWC marks to avoid admitting they got outsmarted by Vince & creative.
One of the oddest things is how alot of times "spoiler& rumors" put out on the internet actually end up being false.Yet none of these Phanton Bookers ever take responsibilty when they go online, blatanlty lie & then claim that WWE did a "swerve". What I don't get is why the WWE doesnt take legal action against all these websites whose bread& butter is leaking info they heard from some snitch in the WWE creative team.If some guy at Warner Brothers put up a website where they gave a complete story synopsis & spoiler for Batman : The Dark Knight before its official release,he would have been told to take it down & probably would have gotten sued. If WWE & other promotions can find a way to quantify potential lost revenue( e.g advertising, ppv buys) caused by Spoilers,I'd support any kind of litigation against some of these websites.
I don't know what you guys feel about this whole issue? Have spoilers ruined you WWE experince,or is WWE the one to blame for the declining interest amongst viewers over the years? Feel free to leave comments or send me messages.
Magnesium export market sluggish with policy unclear
20 Aug 08 – The export market for magnesium ingot
remains quiet with few inquiries showing up. Additionally, some
exporters are unclear about the price floor policy which becomes a hot
topic presently, so they dare not clear customs in a hurry, market
sources reported to Asian Metal.
A
Shanxi-based trader who exports 200-400tpm of magnesium ingot reported
that the export market has been dull for over two months while they
only concluded three or four small deals with foreign customers.
AThe
source revealed that they concluded a deal of 120t at USD4,300/t FOB
Tianjin with a consumer from East Europe a week ago for with shipment
no later than August. “We’re satisfied with the concluded price, as
many others said that they could seal a deal at prices above USD4,200/t
FOB,” said the source.
However,
the source dares not arrange shipment for the contracted material after
learning that Tianjin Customs adopted price floor policy on magnesium
export and exporters should have to pay more export tax according to a
limit price which is much higher than the current market price.
An
official from a Shanxi-based smelter also expressed the concern about
the export policy, believing that the limit price may make the market
situation worse. “The export market has been sluggish. Furthermore, if
more suppliers suspended exporting, the domestic price is bound to
decrease due to increasing supply,” said the source.
The
source revealed that the policy is still unclear now, as only one or
two exporters reported that their materials were trapped by the
customs. Therefore, participants have to keep a close eye on the market.
According
to the source, the smelter is running with a small output of
300-400tpm, and most of the materials are sold in the domestic market.
“We exported some materials via trading companies, but few traders
ordered materials from us as they had not received any inquiries from
foreign buyers,” said the source. The source thinks that the price of
USD4,050-4,150/t FOB should be workable for the time being.

TRUE STORY!!!!
A Puerto Rican man has been granted his wish to remain standing even in death.
A funeral home used a special embalming treatment to keep the corpse of 24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina standing upright for his three-day wake.

Dressed in a Yankees baseball cap and sunglasses, Pantoja was mourned by relatives while propped upright in his mother's living room.
His brother Carlos told the El Nuevo Dia newspaper the victim had long said he wanted to be upright for his own wake: "He wanted to be happy, standing."
The owner of the Marin Funeral Home, Damaris Marin, told The Associated Press the mother asked him to fulfill her dead son's last wish.
Medina was found dead Friday underneath a bridge in San Juan and buried Monday. Police are investigating.
Price floor troubles magnesium exporters
15 Aug 08 - The export market for magnesium ingot
has kept dull for over two months while the price has been decreasing.
Close sources revealed that the Tianjin Customs has set up the price
floor for magnesium export, which casts shadows on the market.
A
Beijing-based trader revealed that a batch of magnesium ingot was
rested in Tianjin port, for the contracted price of the material is
much lower than USD4,800/t FOB Tianjin set by the Tianjin Customs as
the minimum export price. "Those who have orders to fulfill will have
to pay export tax according to the price floor, which means their
export cost will be absolutely higher," said the source.
The
source revealed that he's only fulfilling some old contracts signed
before the price started to drop. Consumers showed no interest in his
offer of USD4,200/t FOB Tianjin this week. The source plans to suspend
quoting as he is not ready to pay the export tax according to the price
floor which is USD500-600/t than the current market price.
An
Inner Mongolia magnesium producer decided to postpone the shipment of a
batch of magnesium ingot which was concluded at USD3,800/t FOB China.
"We put off the fulfillment of the order which was signed half a year
ago. However, hardly had we started to arrange shipment, we learnt
about the limit price, so we have to postpone the shipment again," said
the source.
The
source has not done any export business recently but only sold some
materials in the spot market. "The lowest price we accepted was
RMB25,000/t (USD3,644/t) ex works," said the source, adding that they
learnt that deals were concluded at prices below such a level in
Shanxi's Taiyuan and Shaanxi's Fugu. According to the source, the
smelter is running below its capacity of 8,000tpy with some furnaces
being overhauled.
Both
sources worry that the policy of price floor will hurt the already
sluggish market and make the situation worse. They are having a close
eye on the market and waiting for the move of the Customs.

Manganese price goes higher in China
20 Aug 08 - Manganese market remains generally dull
in China but as more deals are concluded compared with earlier this
month and the supply remains a bit tight, the suppliers keep raising
their prices. More deals are concluded at around RMB20,800/t
(USD3,032/t) ex works but due to the weak demand, the price might not
keep rising.
A
Guangxi-based supplier told Asian Metal that they just conclude a deal
at RMB20,900/t (USD3,047/t) ex works. "The buyers are unwilling to
accept RMB21,000/t (USD3,061/t) ex works for the moment but the price
we got is already very high," said the source who reported that demand
has been stronger these days. "Some downstream buyers have been back to
order some materials and some traders are also about to replenish some
stocks for fear that the price might go up in the coming months."
However,
the source is not quite optimistic. "Demand remains weak in both
domestic and foreign markets. And when more buyers have stocked some
materaial, demand would cool down soon," said the source who belives
the price might fall down in the near term. Their export price is
stable at around USD3,900/t FOB. "We reached an agreement with a
foreign buyer at the price of USD3,910/t late last week." The source
still has some stocks at hand.
Another
Hunan-based smelter still insist on the offer of RMB21,000/t
(USD3,061/t) ex works at the moment. "More deals are concluded at the
price of RMB20,800/t (USD3,032/t) ex works now but that of RMB21,000/t
(USD3,061/t) ex works is still a bit high," said the source who has
almost booked out the output this month.
The
source claimed that the price hike is mainly due to two impulses.
First, some stainless steel mills have been back to purchase the
material for their production in the coming months. Second, the
Olympics is about to come to an end and the players who expect the
market to warm up with higher prices are ready to replenish some stocks
before that. "The good expectation is pushing the suppliers to raise
their offers," said the source.
However,
the source is not quite optimistic about the market. "The price might
fall down soon in the next week," said the source who belives that
demand from foeign markets is still low and the overall market is on
the decline this year.
Big Foot
Ok, personally I'm not really into the Big Foot frenzy but hey I'm not stopping anyone. I just think it's one of those things that people aren't going to believe or stop rolling their eyes at until they see some genuine proof. We all know about the two guys from Georgia, their Big Foot corpse turned out to be a gorilla costume. I mean are the chances of someone finding the real deal likely? No, but is it possible sure it is. I mean it's something that everyone has their own definition of. Is it a man that lives in the woods and covered with hair or what? I admire those who continue to believe that it's true despite negative talk from everyone else. Just think, one day you'll get to rub it in their faces, lol. To Joey B, keep believing. Only you saw it......... so don't worry about it. As for the guys that are "running" well I'd run too, for the embarrassment. Either they really wanted fame and thought they could get away with this or they just wanted to keep Big Foot in the papers because their huge fans. Don't know. The Big Foot theory has been around forever. I think Big Foot and Loch Ness are hiding in so dark, wet cave that has access to the ocean with a tv, making fun of these guys lol. Just kidding, couldn't resist.
saludos.
